Remember last week when I mentioned that my room didn’t quite feel finished? Well, I did make a some progress in adding a few details, but it’s not quite there yet. Once it is, I promise, I will show you the room in it’s entirety (maybe through a video – wouldn’t that be fun?). For now, though, let’s just highlight two little places of the room that help add organization and functionality.
First is the rug + vintage storage box combo. When I brought that rug home I was not sure it was the right fit for my room. I had a different patterned rug in mind, but chose to purchase an aztec patterned rug instead. I was worried that the rug would stick out like a sore thumb. Once I found the right type of bedding, it all came together and I am now so happy with the decision to keep the rug. Though the rug is an aztec pattern, I love contrasting it with vintage pieces like the storage box I picked up from Hobby Lobby. If there is one thing my room needed it was functionality and this storage box was perfect. Instead of throwing blankets all over the floor or storing them in a closet, I love that I can simply display them and that they are easily accessible.
Another piece of functionality that has been helpful in my room is the nightstand. I wear glasses 99% of the time, so it was necessary to have a nightstand to place my glasses on. Adding the plate allows me to have a designated area to place my glasses and phone while I sleep. It seems a obvious, but adding designated places for certain items, helps keep any room organized and clean.
What about you? What do you have any organizational or functionality tips?
