Hey guys and gals, thanks so much for the comments on my last Pattern Studies post. Each comment puts a smile on my face and truly makes my day! I am so glad you are enjoying the series. So far, this series has helped create a regular posting around here. Don’t get me wrong, I am planning on posting more than just patterns, but devoting time to work on patterns has helped me find a groove and understand the flow of creating, editing, and publishing a blog post. As with almost everything, it takes longer than I would have thought, but that’s okay. I am still learning.
So about the patterns, eh? This week I found myself inspired by this pin (if anyone knows the original source, let me know). The colors are calming and fresh – that’s what got me. Neutral with a slight bits of color just does it for me. When I started picking colors for this week, I was using brighter and bolder colors; I felt overwhelmed. It just wasn’t working. Something was off. Taking a lighter approach felt much better; I could breathe and I started to relax. Isn’t crazy how colors can make you feel?
Last week, I noted that I my personal favorites were the one that allowed the texture to show through. With that in mind, I tried to incorporate more textures into the patterns this week. I think the subtle texture adds another layer of interest and story. What do you think? Are you a sucker for texture as well? Which one is your favorite?? I’d love to know your faves – Let me know via the comments or on Twitter!
